Hand Forged Medieval Men at Arms Battle Axe. The axe is one of mankindÃs oldest close combat weapons. Knights often fought with battle axes when they were on foot. The battle axe struck with force could apply significant injury to a knight in armor. The weapon was primarily used as a cutting weapon and capable of cutting off the limbs of an enemy in one stroke. The Hand Forged Medieval Men at Arms Battle Axe is constructed of stainless steel with a black finish and silver edging. The blades are sharp with a spike in the back of the blade that also comes sharp and edged. The handle is constructed of wood that has been stained and treated with a polyurethane coating. This piece has a weight reducing cutouts in the center of the blade. This one handed axe can be used for display or the finishing accessory to a period costume or re-enactment.
